Has a masters degree in project management, and is a Fellow and Certificated Project Manager of the Association for Project Management. Recognises that the Construction Industry needs to significantly improve its business processes. Until recently, Robin served on the Executive Board of the APM as Deputy Chairman. A Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, David is a recognised leading construction figure committed to promoting improvement and business performance in the Industry. With 40 years experience, of which more than 30 years were spent with leading client and airport operator, BAA, he has wide experience in airport development and aviation related construction, and a unique insight into the changing management practices of a multi billion industry.
As BAA's Group Director of Engineering and Construction through the 1990s with an annual capital expenditure programme of circa £450 million, he was a promoter and leader of change in both construction practice and business approach in delivering projects. His leadership and knowledge although based on major project experience in virtually every area of building civil and transportation works at the sharp end of construction does have the added dimension of bringing a professional client perspective to the business issues of development. His role is to guide and continually challenge the framework and manner in which we create and deliver appropriate, innovative solutions for business improvement.
